Welcome to Kilmarnock

Kilmarnock lies in East Ayrshire thirty minutes drive from Glasgow and a short distance from Prestwick Airport. Previous winner of the UKs friendliest Shopping Town, it is the ideal location for a short break. There`s plenty to see and do in Kilmarnock and it is also an excellent base for touring Ayrshire in general. Places to stay range from comfortable guest houses to a four star luxury hotel. There are many restaurants, cafes and take away shops offering everything from fine dining to fish and chips. King Street in the town centre is a car free area lined with many different shops including Marks & Spencer, W H Smith and Boots. This is complimented by the Burns Mall which has direct access to Kilmarnock Bus Station and the main taxi rank. The nearby Bank Street is a quieter cobbled area featuring many unique local shops and cafes. The recently restored Dick Institute is an excellent library, art gallery and museum featuring an ever changing exhibition line up. Also well worth visiting is the Dean Castle Country Park.
